“God said, ‘Let the land produce seed-bearing plants’…and it was so.  The land produced plants bearing seed and trees bearing fruit with seed.”       Genesis 1:11-13 

God is planning for a future that includes death and replacement, even before any death occurs.  He knows us that well.  He knows the wanderlust that will be part of our nature, the dissatisfaction with status quo, the need to control, to be our own gods.  He knows that we will choose to go our own ways; and that the ways we choose willfully, will lead to our demise. 

He gives us the free will to disobey, even though he knows it will cost us our lives, and will ultimately cost his own Son’s life as well.  And yet, right here at the beginning, before anything has gone awry, he creates seeds—the promise of regeneration—so that after the Fall, there will be spring.
