Our summers in Epworth are so busy. In the last week alone, several members of our family have participated in a community wide tennis tournament (Pickleball was the week before!), a variety show full of songs, dances and skits, requiring multiple rehearsals, and a parade involving all the kids in our little summer haven and the crowning of a “Queen of Epworth”. On top of all that, throw in some Halloween trick-or-treating. No wonder by the time this week is over parents feel like they need a vacation from their vacation.
I got such a kick out of our granddaughter Chloe choosing to be Alice from “Alice in Wonderland” for our Epworth Halloween. Years ago, her father went trick-or-treating as the White Rabbit, complete with a nose that he wouldn’t wear because it smelled like plastic. In this photo it sits perched on his forehead.
It was touch and go on the night before our Epworth Halloween. Amazon said that Alice’s dress had been delivered to the Epworth package pick-up, but my son and I sifted through so many packages and couldn’t locate it. There were substitute costumes suggested, and there were some tears. But Court’s wife Kimberly went down to the mailroom one more time, and found it! Hurray and Hallelujah!
So, here’s father and daughter, White Rabbit and Alice, separated by about 30 years. You certainly can see the resemblance in looks and thought. Happy Halloween!
Love, Liz
