my own damascus road

Uncategorized Jul 15, 2020

There may always be need for earthquakes,
  the appearance of brawny angels,
a blinding light and voice from heaven,

the upheaval of revolution
to wrest mercy from the hands of
oppressively devilish death.

Some require signs and wonders,
and circuses still have their fans,
so do the flashy things, Jesus, if you must.

But for me, the companionable presence
the tender mention of a name whispered
in a weeper's ear, will suffice for now.

You raised my soul on a road in Indiana
when you occupied my every waking thought,
and I said, "Ok, Jesus, I'm yours...Okay?"

“Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee
Take my moments and my days, let them flow in ceaseless praise."
